Charlie Bird Sommelier Eyes Prince Street for New Venture

Almost a year and a half after Miss Paradis declared renovations and shut down altogether, another applicant for 47 Prince Street. This time, one with much local clout.

Public records indicate that Charlie Bird sommelier Grant Reynolds is on tap to bring a new establishment to the northwest corner of Mulberry Street. The requisite notices went up around the neighborhood earlier this week. Neighborhood scuttlebutt says it’ll be a “bakery with wine.”

Reynolds will appear before Community Board 2 tonight to obtain advisory approval for a tavern wine license.

Reynolds is quite familiar with the Little Italy scene, as Charlie Bird sister restaurant, Pasquale Jones, is just a few blocks away.

It’s unclear, though, whether the shiny rooftop apple from Miss Paradis will remain. It’s still there.

You’ll recall that this corner parcel had been a locals parking lot until 2012. Before cocktails were considered, the spot had been earmarked for a Shake Shack. Neighbors quickly put the kibosh on that idea, though. Miss Paradis came along thereafter, yet spent more time in the planning and construction phase (4 years) than serving food (1 year).
